Hutton Buscel Artists

June 2020 – A number of the HBAs will be holding an Open Studio event at the same time as having their gardens open to the public.  Artists Stasia Valentine, Diane Todd, Jan Jennings, Charlotte Corney, Rachel Asker, Judi Kent Pyrah, Alan M Hunt, Louise Thompson and Shirley Doyle will be on hand to show you round their studio space and talk to you about their work (as well as their gardens).  Its a great opportunity to see artists in action and to buy direct from them, much cheaper than with the heavy commission prices that galleries add to the cost of works.  A map is available at the designated parking field and all of the studios will be shown on the map.  There will also be a record number of gardens open and several participants will be selling ‘very cheap’ plants.  If ever there was a time to have a lovely stroll around the village, it would be this weekend. Refreshments will be available in the village hall.

HBA’s Annual Exhibition

12th & 13th September 2020

Hutton Buscel Village Hall

Open invitation to the Preview Evening 11th September 7-9pm

The HBA’s are a unique group of artists who live in the village of Hutton Buscel, which is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park between Pickering and Scarborough. There are now 12 members who are all very talented ‘artisans’ ranging from photographers, ceramicists, portrait, wildlife and equine artists, illustrated poetry, textile artists, oil painters and pastelists, watercolourists, landscape and seascape artists, haberdashery, sculpture and much much more. Our exhibition includes ‘all’ aspects creativity in any medium, which makes this exhibition so interesting and varied.

This year, the exhibition will be extending into a brand new marquee, which will be erected in the grounds of the village hall.  The group also made the bold decision to change the date of their exhibition from November to September. It was felt although November is a good month for Christmas sales, the weather can put a lot of people off visiting. It is hoped the month of September being much warmer will be more visitor friendly, and with the additional outdoor facilities and open areas, the group look forward to the challenge of creating a new and exciting approach to exhibiting all their work, so we will keep our fingers crossed for some extended summertime weather.  2020 will see us putting on our 8th exhibition of art and craft in the Village Hall in September 2020.

Free entry and free car parking.

10.00am – 4.00pm

HBA’s Annual Exhibition

24th & 25th November 2018

Hutton Buscel Village Hall

The HBA’s are a unique group of artists who live in the village of Hutton Buscel, which is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park between Pickering and Scarborough. The group was the brainchild of Shirley Doyle who got together a group of artists friends with the view to holding an exhibition, but as word got around, membership soon grew. There are now 12 members who are all very talented ‘artisans’ ranging from photographers, ceramicists, portrait, wildlife and equine artists, illustrated poetry, textile artists, oil painters and pastelists, watercolourists, landscape and seascape artists, haberdashery and much much more. Our exhibition includes ‘all’ aspects creativity in any medium.

Every month we meet with the sole purpose of planning our annual exhibition, which takes place at the end of each November. Holding the exhibition just a few weeks before Christmas means that we can include a festive theme, which has proven very popular in recent years. 2018 will see us putting on our 6th exhibition of art and craft in the Village Hall on Sat 24th and Sun 25th November 2018.

Free entry and free car parking.

Please visit our Poppy Art Installation in the grounds of St.Michael’s Church. The art installation will be on display throughout November where you will see their amazing hand-crafted ceramic poppies. You can sponsor a ceramic poppy for £10 and at the end of the exhibition you get to keep it. All profits will go to the British Legion Scarborough Branch who very kindly supplied us with all the poppies incorporated into the mounted display and in return, the HBA’s will be making a donation in appreciation.  Contact Diane Todd by email at diane-todd@hotmail.co.uk or call Shirley Doyle on 07709 017851.
